LinkedIn Updates: 3 New Benefits If You Work in Immigration or Global Mobility

3 LinkedIn Updates

There have been quite a few fantastic LinkedIn updates this year! Have you ever wondered if your LinkedIn posts are hitting their targets? Or how many people your posts are actually reaching?

Analytics are an incredibly important part of your content strategy arsenal. It’s how you make sure the content you are creating is actually reaching and resonating with the right audience. While noticing which posts receive comments and likes (engagement) is a great starting point, if you are an immigration or global mobility professional looking to take the next step in your marketing game, it’s time to start paying attention to your analytics.

If you are creating content, these LinkedIn updates are critical and can help you track both your content and its resulting engagement, see who your audience is, and, most importantly, help you plan future content that will resonate the most with other immigration and global mobility professionals.

There are 3 main benefits to using the latest LinkedIn updates and all of them will help you create better content and stand out from the crowd.

LinkedIn Updates: Now you can see your aggregate views and engagement metrics

There are two ways to get here: (1) either go to your “Home” tab and, toward the top-left, click on “Impressions of your posts” or (2) go to your profile, and right under the top part of your profile where your name, photo, etc., are, you’ll see an “Analytics” tile that says a number and “post impressions”.

Once there, you can look at either “impressions,” which is how many views your particular post got, or “engagement” which is how people reach your post in the form of likes, comments, etc. and you can see your impressions and engagement from the past 7 days up to the past 365 days ( one calendar year.)

You can use these dates to start seeing which of your posts have had the greatest reach (look for the highest number of impressions) and which have had the highest number of likes, comments, etc. (engagement.) By pinpointing which of your posts have made the biggest impact with your audience, you can tailor-make future content to fit more within these lines. This can also make experimenting a lot more fun! Don’t be afraid to try new content ideas and then check the analytics to see what sticks.

LinkedIn Updates: You can now get notified every time someone posts by clicking a bell

You know how sometimes it seems like someone you follow suddenly stopped posting, but when you go to their profile it turns out that they have been posting, but you’re just not seeing the posts?

Well, the bell icon (🔔) will ensure that no longer happens. Much like the bell on YouTube, if you click the bell at the top-right corner of a person’s profile, you’ll never miss their posts again.

If you’re a content creator and you want to make sure your followers see all of your posts, encourage them to hit that bell icon! If you’re not sure how to encourage your audience, I think that this makes a great Call To Action to add to any future post. Just add a line at the end of your post or update asking people to tap the bell icon if they’d like to hear more from you in the future.

LinkedIn Updates: Add a website link to your profile

If you’re a business owner, law firm partner, or business development professional, this particular benefit is a pretty subtle but important update: you can now add a link to the very top of your profile!

To do this, first, go to your profile and then click the little pencil icon to edit the section where your name, employer, school, etc. show up. Scroll to the very bottom of the screen that pops up and you’ll see a section that allows you to add a “Website.” You can add a URL here for folks to click, or also type in text (up to 30 characters) that will lead to your URL, like a hyperlink.

Use this feature to send people who visit your profile directly to your website. This is incredibly useful for anyone outside of your network who may be viewing your post and is interested in learning more. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out more about what you do, so please be sure to link your law firm or website on your profile.

I hope this post has made you excited to start reaping the benefits from LinkedIn Creator Mode. If you’d like to learn more about taking your LinkedIn and content marketing to the next level, I’m launching my next 6-week LinkedIn course for immigration professionals soon. Click here for details.
